Calories in food provide energy in the form of heat so our bodies can function, every single thing you eat is a form of fuel if you eat too much 'fuel' and don't burn it off through exercise your body will store it as fat.
However the body can also store the food you eat if you skip breakfast, lunch etc this will compromise your metabolism, the rate you burn your fuel.
Many people I meet skip breakfast, eat a very small lunch and then gobble a ton of grub for dinner and keep going back to the fridge all evening. This is because they've not fuelled their bodies throughout the day and they're hungry.
If you do one thing you should eat healthily throughout the day to keep your energy levels up and look at your portion sizes especially those big evening meals! Kick starting your metabolism will really help you to lose excess fat.
Think about food as a need rather than a treat and start making better choices you'll be surprised at how much better you'll feel!
