Fat! Doesn’t make you FAT!

Fat! Another misjudged macronutrient that has a ton of confusion surrounding it. Yes fat does contain around 9 cals per 1 gram so it's more than double that of protein and carbohydrates, and again not all fats are equal. The fats to totally avoid as much as humanly possible are TRANS FATS! Trans fats are found in all kinds of take aways, ready meals and over processed food. So all of your junk, it's also found in most spreadable butters and margarines. So if you think you're being 'healthy' and swapping to a vegetable spread or margarine instead of good old fashioned hard butter, think again. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Saturated fats also get a bad press, yes you should be keeping them to a minimum, however we as humans need them in our diet for brain health the majority of your brain is fat and cholesterol! So saturated fat is essential as your brain needs it to grow, regenerate and stay healthy (But more on all of this in another post). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Good fats found in whole vegetables like coconut & olives. Nuts and fish are a good source of fat and provide a whole host of nutrient value and health benefits. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So keep your diet balanced, don't cut out fat, and certainly do not go for low fat options as these will contain hidden sugars sweeteners and chemicals that are far worse than fat! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Always make choices based on foods that are as near to their natural state as possible. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
